What I Need to Remember When Life Gets Tough …

✨ What I Need to Remember When Life Gets Tough✨… Life feels overwhelming for me lately especially today and the weight of the world is pressing down on me. I need to stop, reflect and remind myself of all that I have in my life — all that truly matters. I am a spouse to an AMAZING man, a partner who stands by me, lifts me up, and reminds me of love’s strength even in the hardest moments. Ivan has been the biggest blessing of my life and has brought out the best in me ever since the first day we met. I can get through any obstacles or struggles that come my way as long as I have Ivan by my side. I love this man more and more each day, I am truly thankful to him to have by my side to go through this crazy life with.  I am a mother to two beautiful girls, who bring light, laughter, and meaning into every single day. Watching them grow is one of my greatest blessings. With all the stressful days full of chaos and overload I still find being a mother the greatest gift that has...

Discovering Your Enneagram Type

Discovering Your Enneagram Type:✨

A Journey of Self-Understanding

The Enneagram is a powerful tool for personal growth and self-discovery. It’s an ancient personality system that categorizes human behavior into nine distinct types, each with its own strengths, weaknesses, motivations, and fears. Whether you’re just beginning to explore the Enneagram or you’re looking to deepen your understanding of yourself, identifying your Enneagram type can be a transformative experience.

Personally, I have taken the enneagram test a few times just to see if my type ever changes. Every single time I take it I get the same result which is Type 1. What is the Enneagram?

The Enneagram is a nine-pointed symbol that represents nine different personality types, each with its unique worldview. The system is not about categorizing people into rigid boxes, but rather, it’s about understanding core motivations and patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior. Each type has a distinct approach to life, relationships, and work, and the Enneagram helps you recognize these patterns, giving you the tools to grow and evolve in a healthier direction.

The nine Enneagram types are typically divided into three groups:

Heart Types (2, 3, 4): These types are primarily concerned with relationships, emotions, and self-image.

Head Types (5, 6, 7): These types focus on security, analysis, and mental activity.

Body Types (8, 9, 1): These types are driven by instincts, action, and self-control.

Why Should You Learn Your Enneagram Type?

Learning your Enneagram type can be an eye-opening experience, offering insights into your inner world. Here are some key reasons why it’s worth exploring:

1. Self-Awareness: The first step in personal growth is becoming aware of your behaviors, habits, and motivations. The Enneagram provides a framework for understanding why you act the way you do, which can lead to a deeper understanding of yourself.

2. Improved Relationships: The Enneagram encourages empathy by showing how people with different types view the world. By understanding the core motivations behind other people’s actions, you can improve communication and strengthen relationships.

3. Personal Growth: The Enneagram highlights areas for growth and gives you tools to develop healthier patterns. It’s a path of continual self-improvement, helping you break free from old habits that may be holding you back.

4. Increased Compassion: By learning about the Enneagram, you realize that everyone is on their own journey and faces unique challenges. This can cultivate compassion for yourself and others.

How to Identify Your Enneagram Type

While the Enneagram is complex, there are several ways to start discovering your type. Here’s how to get started:

1. Take an Enneagram Test

There are many online Enneagram tests that can give you a starting point. These tests ask questions about your behaviors, feelings, and motivations, and provide a general idea of which type you may belong to. Keep in mind that no test is 100% accurate, so use it as a tool rather than a definitive answer.

2. Read About Each Type

After taking a test, dive deeper into each type’s description. Some people resonate with certain descriptions more than others. Take your time reading about each type’s core motivation, fears, strengths, and weaknesses. Pay attention to which type feels most “like you,” not necessarily which one sounds the best or most flattering.

3. Reflect on Your Life Patterns

Take a step back and think about recurring themes in your life. How do you respond to stress? What are your unconscious fears? What drives you to succeed or fail? The more you understand these patterns, the closer you’ll get to pinpointing your type.

4. Consider the Wings

Each Enneagram type has two “wings,” which are the adjacent types on the Enneagram diagram. For example, if you are a Type 5, your wings would be Types 4 and 6. Your wing can influence your personality, so be sure to explore how these nearby types might affect your core type.

5. Ask for Feedback

Sometimes it’s helpful to ask people who know you well for their perspective. They may point out behaviors or tendencies you hadn’t noticed before. A trusted friend, family member, or therapist who understands the Enneagram can provide insights that help you identify your type.

What to Do Once You Know Your Type

Once you’ve discovered your Enneagram type, it’s time to use that knowledge for growth and transformation. Here are some ways you can use the Enneagram in your life:

1. Embrace Your Strengths: Each type has unique strengths. When you understand what your type excels at, you can intentionally cultivate these positive traits in your life.

2. Work on Your Challenges: The Enneagram also shows where you might struggle. Whether it’s a tendency to overwork, avoid conflict, or fear failure, understanding your challenges allows you to make intentional changes.

3. Seek Balance: Understanding your type helps you avoid falling into the unhealthy patterns of your type. Strive for balance by integrating the positive aspects of your type’s growth path while being mindful of the pitfalls that can arise under stress.

4. Communicate More Effectively: When you know your type and the types of others around you, you can improve your communication and relationships. You’ll learn how to approach others in ways that align with their core motivations, making interactions smoother and more understanding.

5. Practice Self-Compassion: The Enneagram reminds us that we all have flaws, but these don’t define us. Understanding your type helps you embrace your imperfections with self-compassion, knowing that personal growth is an ongoing journey.

Lastly:

 Embrace Your Journey of Self-Discovery

Learning your Enneagram type is not a one-time event, but a continuous process of self-discovery and growth. It invites you to examine your motivations, become aware of your blind spots, and take responsibility for your personal development. By understanding your Enneagram type, you embark on a journey toward greater self-awareness, deeper relationships, and a more fulfilling life.

No matter where you are on your Enneagram journey, remember that the goal isn’t to label yourself, but to better understand the complexities of who you are and how you can grow. Embrace the process, and enjoy the learning and growth that comes with it!

Personal Growth and Development

✨Personal Growth and Development✨   The Power of Small Steps:  How Consistent Effort Leads to Big Changes The topic of this post is about personal growth and development. I often struggle with this myself. I have found that small baby steps and consistency is the key to change.    What is personal growth often thought as?  Personal growth is often thought of as a massive transformation—something that happens overnight after a breakthrough moment or an intense period of introspection.  However, the truth is that true and lasting personal development happens through consistent, small actions over time. The Myth of Instant Change We’ve all seen those dramatic before-and-after stories. Maybe it’s a fitness journey, a career turnaround, or someone who’s transformed their mindset in a seemingly instant way.  These stories are powerful and inspiring, but they can also create a false expectation that personal growth needs to happen in a flash. The reality is f...

A Letter to You, My Uncle Ben

Dear Uncle Ben, How are you doing? How's the food in heaven? Have you made any friends? These are all kinds of questions I have stuck in my mind lately. I am still trying to grasp the concept of grief. I still can’t wrap around my head and accept that you are no longer here with us. I feel like my whole world has been shattered into a million pieces. It kills me inside knowing you will never walk through that door at a family gathering or that you will never be at holidays. You were a huge part of our family and still are. I hope up in heaven you have gotten to see and know my kids. Everyday that passes it shatters me emotionally that you never got to meet my girls. I wanted them to have the Uncle Ben that I had growing up. Seeing my Uncle Ben was always the highlight of gatherings. You made things so magical and fun for me growing up. You have made a HUGE impact on my world and you probably don’t even realize it. To this day, I remember perfectly you tricking me thinking Grand...
