I’ve read several of her thrillers, but this one BLEW ME away with its clever twists, unexpected turns, and a storyline that kept me guessing until the very last page. From the very beginning, McFadden sets the tone with a slow burn of thoughts that gradually evolves into a full-blown psychological roller coaster. The plot centers around two coworkers—one mysterious, one seemingly “normal”—and a disappearance that flips their workplace upside down. What seems simple at first quickly becomes a layered mystery filled with secrets, lies, and deeply unsettling discoveries. What I loved most was how brilliantly misleading the entire story is.
